It is with a mixture of sadness, conviction, and joy that we announce that through prayer, scripture, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, on January 22, 2012 Knox Church held a congregational meeting with 63.3% of the membership present.

They voted 148 in favor of the motion; "That Knox be graciously dismissed from PCUSA with all its property and liabilities, to affiliate with if the way be clear to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church". There was 1 vote against the motion and one abstention.

The meeting was 2 hours and 40 minutes long. You can listen to 1 hr and 26 minutes of the meeting, which only excludes times of silence primarily during the distribution of and counting of ballots, by Clicking Here and downloading the 60 mb file.

Dear Knox Family,
Hospitality is a lost art. I know there are many among us who have the gift, but for the most part our homes, table and lives have become cordoned off from loving those who are "outside" of our families and immediate friends. I would like to take a look at this profound, powerful, and, dare I say, fun way of serving in the Kingdom of God. Hospitality is that thing that we do that sets a table for more people than we have. It invites folks into love and relationship that they would not otherwise have known. It is intentional about being a blessing to those who would not be blessed without our hand. What would it mean to set an extra place at the table without knowing who is coming yet. The Gospel seems to tell us that this is a place where we encounter Jesus. Remember the whole "what you do for the least of these you do unto me" thing? Oh and the "love others" thing too. Come to think of it, Jesus was continually creating situations where He made space for others at the table - in community and relationship, and in His heart. Maybe we ought to pay a bit more attention to this discipline.
Peace,
Pastor Matt
